2015 MotoGP World Championhip, Gran Premio d'Italia TIM, Round 6 of 18
Lorenzo Makes Moviestar Magic in Italy
Mugello, Italy, May 29-31st, 2015 - Movistar Yamaha MotoGP's Jorge Lorenzo was unbeatable in Mugello today to claim a brilliant victory in the Gran Premio d'Italia, his third consecutive MotoGP win of the season. Teammate Valentino Rossi also gave a stunning performance, to finish third, making it three double podiums for the Movistar Yamaha MotoGP team in a row.
Thousands of home fans of the Movistar Yamaha MotoGP team gathered at the Autodromo del Mugello to see their dreams come true today. Not only did Jorge Lorenzo claim a flawless victory for the Gran Premio d'Italia, Yamaha's fifth of the season, but their local hero Valentino Rossi also battled his way onto podium. He secured third in a hard fought race, making it his sixth consecutive podium.
After a flying start from second on the grid, Lorenzo tucked in behind Andrea Iannone and Andrea Dovizioso to quickly make his intentions clear. He moved up from third to lead the way when he crossed the line for the first time. With a clear track ahead of him, the race went exactly as he planned. As his pit board signaled rival Marc Marquez's approach, he put the hammer down, setting a 1'47.700, the fastest lap of race.
He gradually built a gap and remained untouchable for the rest of the race. Riding consistent laps in the low 1'48s the Spaniard finished his perfect performance at the team's home GP with a 5.563s advantage. This win is Lorenzo's third win at the Mugello circuit in four years' time.
Iannone Took his first Pole for Ducati and broke the track and top spped record in the process.
Andrea Iannone claimed Ducati’s first pole at Mugello since 2007,
while Champ Marc Marquez experienced his worst ever MotoGP™ Qualifying.
Iannone puts Ducati on Pole with New Lap and MotoGP Top Speed Record of 217.5mph
Mugello, Italy,, Saturday May 30th 201 - It was a day of contrasts at the Gran Premio D’Italia as Ducati Team’s Andrea Iannone sent the Italian fans at the Autodromo del Mugello into rapture as he claimed his first career MotoGP™ pole position in near perfect conditions, setting the fastest ever top speed recorded by a MotoGP™ bike in the process (350.8kph / 217.5mph).
Iannone, riding with a fractured humerus sustained during a testing crash at the Tuscany Circuit, took advantage of the softer option tyre available to Ducati to set a 1’46.489, which was almost seven-tenths quicker than Dani Pedrosa’s pole record from 2013.
Countering that was the dramatic action involving the reigning MotoGP™ World Champion Marc Marquez, as he failed to make it through to Q2 for the first time in his career and will start Sunday’s race from the head of the fifth row in thirteenth. Marquez struggled throughout the day, getting caught out in FP3 and finishing down in eleventh on the combined timesheets. It was only the second time the Spaniard has failed to automatically qualify for Q2, the first being at Mugello in 2013.
A crash in FP4 only compounded matters and as Marquez attempted to make it through from Q1 he set a time good enough for second on the timesheets with 2 minutes to go in the session. Thinking that the job was complete, it was then that disaster struck for him and his team. Yonny Hernandez on the Octo Pramac Racing Ducati displaced him in the final seconds, securing the Columbians progress through to Q2 at Marquez’ expense. This means that Marquez will have to start Sunday’s race from the front of the fourth row in 13th his worst ever MotoGP™ Qualifying performance.
Movistar Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo will be a force to be reckoned come Sunday’s race, as he demonstrated in incredibly persistent race pace throughout Free Practice. The double MotoGP™ World Champion was only 0.095s behind Dovizioso in Q2 and will start from second on the grid, a feat made all the more impressive as Lorenzo does not have the softer option tyre available to him.
Andrea Dovizioso followed up Iannone’s incredible pole lap by securing third on the grid, making it two Ducati GP15’s on the front row, and the team will be pushing hard for their first win since Stoner’s victory in Australia in 2010.
CWM LCR Honda’s Cal Crutchlow won the battle of the Satellite riders, as he once again impressed during Q2 to finish fourth fastest as the fastest Honda on the grid.
Team Suzuki Ecstar’s Aleix Espargaro was another rider who had to grit his teeth as he was suffering from the injury to his right thumb sustained during his Free Practice crash at Le Mans. The Spaniard sought medical advice before the day’s action, and it clearly paid off, as he will start the race from the middle of the front row.
To top off an almost perfect day for Ducati, their test rider Michele Pirro managed to set a time good enough for sixth in Q2, and will complete the second row for Sunday’s race, the best qualifying performance from a wild card rider since Ben Spies in 2008 at Indianapolis.
Dani Pedrosa on the second Factory Repsol Honda RC213V showed he is recovering from his arm pump surgery by setting the seventh fastest time. The Spaniard will start from the head of the third row, ahead of nine-time World Champion Valentino Rossi.
Rossi once again could not perform as he wanted during qualifying, although he wont be too disappointed to start the race from eighth on the grid, as his last two victories have both been achieved when he started from that position.
Team Suzuki Ecstar’s Maverick Viñales will start the race from ninth on the grid, with Monster Yamaha Tech 3’s Pol Espargaro & Bradley Smith in tenth and eleventh respectively. Avintia Racing’s Hector Barbera was the leading Open class rider in fifteenth, with the Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS Honda of Scott Redding down in 17th. Full MotoGP™ Qualifying Results

Earlier in the week the full Ducati MotoGP team held a fan appreciation day in the town square Piazza del Campo of the historic city of Siena near Mugello.
The Ducati Team is arriving at the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello, the spectacular circuit in the heart of Tuscany, for the TIM Italian Grand Prix, the sixth round of the 2015 MotoGP World Championship and always one of the most popular and prestigious events on the calendar.
For the two Ducati Team riders it will be a special occasion, seeing as it is the home race for the Borgo Panigale manufacturer and, as always, numerous Ducatisti are expected to pack into the Ducati Grandstand at the Correntaio corner to cheer on their heroes.
A few days before the race at Le Mans the Ducati Team men took part in two days of testing at the Tuscany track, setting some excellent times. Unfortunately at the end of day 2, Iannone crashed at the Arrabbiata 2 turn and injured his left shoulder. In France Dovizioso scored another podium, his fourth in the first five races of the season, while Iannone ran a great race to finish the GP in fifth place after an exciting battle with Marquez. In the last few days the rider from Vasto underwent an MRI scan that unfortunately highlighted a hairline fracture at the tip of his humerus bone and as a result Iannone will have to tackle the Mugello race with some uncertainty regarding his physical condition.
Mugello will also see the appearance of Michele Pirro, the Ducati Test Team’s test-rider, who is entered as a wild-card for the first time this season on a third Desmosedici GP15.
Hernandez, Petrucci, Iannone, Dovizioso going to church.
Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team #04) – 3rd (83 points)
“I believe that we can be competitive at Mugello because we have tested at this track recently and we were quick. In addition the team is very motivated: we are at Mugello and this is Ducati’s home race, so we all have that extra incentive to do well. At the last race however we were missing a little ‘something’ and so we are going to have to continue to work hard throughout this weekend.”
Andrea Iannone (Ducati Team #29) – 5th (61 points)
“For sure on Sunday I will race at Mugello but it’s going to be difficult for me to be 100% fit. A couple of days ago I stopped taking pain-killers and yesterday I did an MRI scan. Unfortunately they found a hairline fracture at the tip of my funny bone, and to be sincere that was a bit of a nasty surprise. The swelling still causes me a lot of pain and I am continuing to do laser therapy in an attempt to get it to go down as soon as possible. In any case, I’ll have to grit my teeth like I did at Le Mans, because it’s far too important for me and for Ducati to have a good race in front of the Mugello fans.”
Michele Pirro (Ducati Test Team #51)
“I am very pleased to do my first wild-card race of the year at Mugello, and it’s also really exciting for me to race for the first time with the GP15. In five races the new Desmosedici has already scored five podiums, proving to be very competitive and so it’s a big responsibility for me, but with the Ducati Test Team we have always done a good job on the bike’s development and so I am confident we can obtain a good result.”
The Mugello circuit
Located 30km north-east of Florence in the beautiful Tuscany countryside, Mugello is a modern circuit with excellent facilities. Bought by Ferrari back in 1988, the 5.245km track has been renovated to a high standard and has a growing reputation as one of the world’s most up-to-date, scenic and safest race circuits. A blend of slow and fast turns with sweeping curves, long straights and off-camber corners make Mugello one of the most challenging circuits for the riders and engineers. Having hosted its first MotoGP event back in 1976 the venue became a permanent fixture in 1991 after extensive refurbishment. Set within a beautiful tree lined Tuscan valley, Mugello also offers ample viewing areas for a particularly boisterous and partisan Italian crowd.

A happy Iannone, Lorenzo and Rossi on the podium at Mugello.
Simply untouchable taking his 36th MotoGP™ victory and reducing Rossi’s championship lead to 6 points
Jorge Lorenzo unstoppable in Mugello
Race Day, Sunday May 31st -
The picturesque setting of the Tuscan hills played host to a spectacular MotoGP™ race at the Gran Premio d’Italia TIM. With the sun shining and track temperatures at the Autodromo del Mugello hitting 50 degrees, the Italian fans were treated to a dominant performance from Jorge Lorenzo as he stormed away to the win the race by over 5.5s.
As Lorenzo disappeared off into the distance, the real battle would be for second place. This fight was originally between the two Factory Ducati’s of Andrea Dovizioso and Andrea Iannone, and the Repsol Honda’s of Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa, although Valentino Rossi would join in the fun before the end of the race.
Lorenzo (99) pulls away at the start from Doviziosso (04) Pedrosa (93) and Iannone (29), with Marquez and Rossi yet to recover from their poor starts.
Marquez had enjoyed an amazing start, moving up from 13th on the grid into sixth at the very first corner. In contrast, Valentino Rossi suffered a disastrous opening lap that would see him down drop down to tenth, before mounting an incredible charge through the field to join the podium fight with eight laps to go.
There was even more drama to come though, as Dovizioso was forced to retire due to rear end chatter issues and then Marc Marquez, who was once more involved in an excellent scrap with Iannone for second, crashed out of the race leaving Iannone to claim second ahead of the inspired Rossi in third.
It was Lorenzo’s third victory in a row and he has now closed the gap to Rossi at the top of the World Championship standings to six points. After a start to the season plagued with troubles, the Spaniard has responded brilliantly to answer any critics.
Iannone claimed his second podium of the season as he rode through the pain after fracturing his humerus at a testing crash in Mugello before the French GP. The Italian delighted his home fans by putting the GP15 on the podium after getting the better of Marquez and holding off Rossi, and has not finished outside the top six this season.
Rossi showed all of his class to work his way back from tenth on the first lap to claim third, and remain the leader in the championship standings. The Italian once again saved his best for the race after having to start from eighth on the grid, and has a six-point lead over Lorenzo in the World Championship standings having not finished off the podium yet in 2015.
Dani Pedrosa rode a solid race to claim fourth, just over three seconds behind Rossi, with Monster Yamaha Tech 3’s Bradley Smith the leading Satellite rider in fifth, benefitting from Cal Crutchlow’s crash with just three laps remaining. Smith’s teammate Pol Espargaro was next across the line in sixth, while Maverick Viñales (Team Suzuki Ecstar), wild card Michele Pirro (Ducati Team), Danilo Petrucci (Octo Pramac Racing) and Yonny Hernandez completed the top ten.
Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS’s Scott Redding again struggled, finishing down in eleventh. Loris Baz took his first Open class victory for his Athina Forward Racing team, as he crossed the line in 12th ahead of Hector Barbera, Alvaro Bautista and Eugene Laverty, who claimed the last championship point on offer.
Jorge Lorenzo, Moviestar Yamaha, 1st - "I’m very happy, because I didn’t expect to escape with such a big margin, but sometimes it happens that you feel great on the bike. Today the track was not so quick so everyone has been a bit slower than we expected. I was the only rider to ride multiple 1’47s, so luckily for me I was gaining six or seven-tenths per lap, this was key to the win of the race. If someone would have told me before Jerez that I would win three races in a row I wouldn’t have believed it, but this is what happened. We are in a great shape; Valentino is getting podiums in every race so that means he is strong and also the bike is working really well. It seems that this year could be our year, so we have to take advantage of it.
It was a different situation when I was twenty-nine points behind than now when it’s down to six, but even like that it’s difficult to close in on Valentino in points because he is always on the podium. Today Iannone stayed in front of him so it’s four points more and as I said six points difference is much better than twenty-nine, but we can’t relax and neither can Yamaha. Our competitors are working really hard to fix the problems they seem to have with the stability of their bikes and they will arrive at a point that they will win races, but until then we need to make the most of our potential to improve the bike little by little."

Superbike Champ Troy Bayliss Suffer a broken leg at the Sacramento mile
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (May 30, 2015) - A handful of super-fast challengers and a second-row start would prove to be no problem for Bryan Smith in Saturday night's Harley-Davidson GNC1 presented by Vance & Hines main event. The rider of the No. 42 Crosley Radio Kawasaki made a last-moment draft pass to win his fifth-consecutive Sacramento Mile in show-stopping fashion in the 50th running of the iconic race.

Troy's Broken Leg
Australian World Superbike star Troy Bayliss was running his second of five scheduled AMA Pro Flat Track events at Sacramento and showed improvement in Practice throughout the day. However, in the evening's 2nd Qualifying Grouip he did have to start at the back of the field due to his Practice times, and a couple laps into the race he crashed his Ducati into the Air Fence going into Turn One, twisting his lower foot badly.
Troy tied to retun for the Consolation Qualifier and lined up on the line for the start, but his leg just didn't seem right and he returned back to the pits as the race was flagged off.
Troy was transported to the local hospital for further evaluation, and there in X-Rays it was shown he had broken the bottom of his right leg's Fibula bone at the Ankle joint. The pictures shown here are from postings on his Official Troy Bayliss Facebook page. Troy then left the hospital for the airport and the long flight back to Australia to have the leg treated by his own doctor.
If the leg vcan heal proberly over the summer months, Trpy should be able to returnto America to finsih the reamining 3 AMA Dirt Track Mile Races he has originally commited to race.

Smith's .02-second win is easily one of the most dramatic victories of his career, as it took until the final few feet on the race's 25th and final lap to overtake Brandon Robinson. "It was a scrap," said Smith speaking about the final five laps of the race. "I wanted it to be just a one-on-one race with Jared (Mees) and I, but there were two other guys that wanted to race with us too, in Brad (Baker) and the No. 44 Brandon (Robinson). The guys made me work for it. I didn't know coming to the checkered flag if I could get Brandon or not. His bike was really strong, but luckily I just squeaked by at the end."
Smith has two wins in his last two races, both coming on Mile tracks, and now sits fifth in the point standings. Each of Smith's five straight Sacramento Mile wins have been by less than a tenth of a second.
"They've all been hard in their own way," said Smith. "Last year, I had to work for it and this year it was even a tougher scrap. It makes it worth it more, I guess. I have to say, with five laps to go, I didn't know if I was going to be able to pull it off. I just dug down and thought to myself how everyone was watching so I guess I'd better go for it."
Robinson, riding the No. 44 Latus Motors Triumph, was spectacular on Saturday, and even though he wasn't able to survive Smith's last-second charge, he was pleased with a second place finish one week after finishing 17th at Springfield. Midway through the main, Robinson was among the riders trading the lead before running high in one corner and being shifted back in the field. He fought his way back to the front and even fended off a pass attempt from Smith entering turn three on the final lap, but he just couldn't keep a wheel in front at the line.Robinson now sits third in the point standings after four rounds.
Piloting the No. 1 Las Vegas Harley-Davidson machine, Mees finished third and closed out the podium. Mees was in the mix all night and even held the lead for several laps. The defending champion continues to show the consistency that led to his title in 2014 and now sits second in points. Mees has earned three podium appearances in the first four races of the year and looks poised for another championship run.
Baker, aboard the No. 6 Factory Harley-Davidson, and Kenny Coolbeth Jr., riding the No. 2 Zanotti Racing Harley-Davidson, finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Mikey Martin, riding the No. 91 Weirbach Racing Kawasaki was the early hero on Saturday night, as he won his heat, earned the Dash for Cash victory and sat on the pole for the main event. In the main however, he led the first lap but wasn't able to hold his stride and settled for 10th.
The Sacramento Mile was the final AMA Pro Flat Track event prior to motorcycle dirt track racing's debut in the X Games. The Harley-Davidson Flat-Track will kick off the action sports showcase at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas on Thursday, June 4 and fans around the world can watch the action live on ESPN at 8:30 p.m. ET (5:30 p.m. PT).

LEON HASLAM GRITS HIS TEETH AND TAKES A DOUBLE FOURTH PLACE, HOLDING ONTO 2nd PLACE IN THE RIDER STANDINGS
GREAT COMEBACK IN BOTH RACES FOR JORDI TORRES
SUPERSTOCK 1000: APRILIA AND SAVADORI DOMINATE THE CHAMPIONSHIP, THIRD WIN IN A ROW
Donington, 24 May 2015 – The much feared rain never arrived to shuffle the deck, but Donington was the setting of an exciting World Superbike round anyway.
On his Aprilia RSV4 Leon Haslam got off the line well from the second row in both starts, demonstrating grit and determination despite the pain from his injury at Imola. Joining the pack of British riders who monopolised the top spots, Leon kept a good pace until about the mid race point when he was forced to give in to fatigue.
Despite the difficulties, the tough British rider valiantly defended two fourth place finishes which earned important points for him and gave the Aprilia Racing – Red Devils team yet another useful result. Haslam holds onto second place in the overall rider standings and fully intends to be a key player in the coming races which are more favourable to the characteristics of his RSV4 RF.
Leon Haslam: “I'm fairly pleased with the results today considering my conditions. Obviously I would have liked to have been on the podium for my fans, but I think that in the end two fourth places are the most we could have aimed for. I started well in both races and then I started feeling the fatigue. In spite of it all, even here we showed that we are in the game. I'm looking forward to some tracks that are more favourable for us so I can perform at my best. Now we'll start thinking about Portimão, a track which should cater well to my RSV4.”
The best Superbike 2015 rookie, Spaniard Jordi Torres, started from the fifth row of the grid but in the two races he managed to gain positions as soon as the red lights went off, continuing his comeback throughout. Overtaking often on an unfamiliar track for him and against decidedly tough adversaries, Jordi finished the two races in seventh place. This is a double result which, after analysing the weekend, leaves the Spanish rider quite satisfied.
Jordi Torres: “The truth is that I'm pleased with these two seventh places. I started from way back but I fought in both races, bringing home important points on a difficult track. We knew that it would be hard here. The English riders are doing very well and they are on their home pitch at Donington, but we managed to improve in each session. This is a strange track because it brings out both our strong points and our weaknesses, so finding an optimum setup for the RSV4 wasn't a simple thing. Portimão will also be a new track for me, but since it is more uniform and smooth I think it might make life easier.”
SUPERSTOCK 1000: APRILIA AND SAVADORI DOMINATE THE CHAMPIONSHIP
Third win in a row for the Aprilia RSV4 RF and Lorenzo Savadori in the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup. The Nuova M2 Racing Team Italian duo dominated the race from the first lap, finishing the 15 laps with a gap of almost 3 seconds ahead of the closest contender. Kevin Calia also performed well, finishing seventh at the chequered flag.
Thanks to today's win Savadori strengthens his leadership in the rider standings, with Aprilia leading the manufacturers.
Double podium for Davies and the Aruba.it Racing - Ducati Superbike Team today at Donington Park
Donington Park (UK), Sunday 24 May 2015 – a well-deserved double podium for Chaz Davies and the Aruba.it Racing - Ducati Superbike Team at the Donington Park circuit in the UK today; racing at his home round, Davies crossed the line third in both of the day’s races. A more difficult day for Davide Giugliano, who was seventeenth and fifth across the line.
Race 1 –cold but dry conditions for this first race of the day. Chaz, sixth on the grid, was strong off the line and lying fourth through the opening laps, behind Haslam, in third, and the two Kawasakis. Lapping with similar pace to Haslam, Welshman Davies was able to pass him on the sixteenth lap to move into third place, a position that he then held to the line, powering his Panigale R to a strong podium finish.
From the front row of the grid, Giugliano positioned fifth through the early stages of the race. Unfortunately, on lap nine, a rear tyre problem forced him to return to the pitlane where his technicians put in a new tyre. The Italian then rejoined the race but was only able to do so much from last position and despite his best efforts, with too much time to make back up, Davide crossed the line in eventual seventeenth place.
Race 2 – in the opening stages, Davide was lapping third while Chaz was lying fifth behind Lowes. After some swapping of positions, at the mid-race point the two factory Ducatis were in fourth (Chaz) and fifth (Davide), with both riders chasing down Haslam and Rea just up ahead. Davies got past Haslam on lap seventeen and, able to manage the final phase of the race effectively, concluded the race in third position once more. Giugliano battled with Haslam in the final stages of the race, crossing the line in final fifth place.
Six rounds in to the 2015 championship and Davies retains fourth place in the overall standings, with 155 points, while Giugliano positions fourteenth, having earned 40 points. Ducati, thanks to today’s double podium, moves up to second in the manufacturer’s standings with 196 points.
Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing - Ducati Superbike Team #7) – 3rd, 3rd
“I’m really pleased with today’s results. The weekend wasn’t easy but we worked hard and to finish both races on the podium here is very positive. Today we simply weren’t on the same level as the Kawasakis and doing any better than third was difficult. In race two I didn’t have much grip and also had a small problem off the line that fortunately sorted itself out right away. Let’s say I’ve done all I could here today and we can only be happy, especially considering the fact that this has always been something of a bogey track for me. Thanks to my whole team for their great work this weekend and now we’ll focus on the next races in which I hope we can score some more strong results.”
Davide Giugliano (Aruba.it Racing - Ducati Superbike Team #34) – 17th, 5th
“Of course I’m very disappointed with the race 1 result. I was really struggling with the grip and so decided to come into the pitlane and get the rear tyre changed. Doing this meant I lost too much ground and there was no way to catch up once back on track, but at least we understood what the problem was. In race 2, I was hopeful that I'd be able to do better but from mid-race the grip dropped off and I was unable to ride as I wanted to. A pity because I was sure we had everything set to be able to complete two strong races here at Donington.”
Serafino Foti – Team Manager
“All in all, today has been a positive day, in that Chaz has completed two strong races. To reach the podium in both shows stability and the continuous growth of the package. Today, in reality, the Kawasakis, and especially Sykes, had something extra. Davide, having put in a good qualifying performance, was unlucky in the races, but he nevertheless make a good second race, fighting for a podium place until a few laps from the end. We need to be prepared for the upcoming Portimao round and so the work will continue, strengthened by our experience here this weekend.”

3-Time SBK World Superbike Champion
Troy Bayliss
to race AMA Dirt Track
This Season
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (April 21, 2015) - Troy Bayliss, the Australian road racing superstar and winner of three World Superbike titles, is coming to the USA to compete in the most iconic and historic form of American motorcycle racing.
Bayliss will run five events on the AMA Pro Flat Track schedule, putting him in the field against the best dirt track racers in the world. He is set to make his debut on a Lloyd Brothers Motorsports Ducati May 24 at the legendary Springfield Mile in Springfield, Ill., and will run the four remaining Mile events on the 2015 schedule.
"Having Troy Bayliss race with AMA Pro Flat Track, at some of our most storied venues, really multiplies the excitement and positive momentum we have as a sport right now," said Michael Gentry, Chief Operating Officer of AMA Pro Racing. "With his own exhibition race, as well as the Superprestigio and with his impressive resume with World Superbike, British Superbike and MotoGP, Troy is one of the motorcycle racing greats. Seeing him on American dirt is a mouth-watering prospect for USA race fans. We are looking forward to the excitement created by his presence in our paddock. A lot of work went into making this a reality and we are thankful to David and Michael Lloyd of Lloyd Brothers Motorsports, Jim Dillard, Vicki Smith and Ducati North America for their vision, support and participation."
Top road racers have long used dirt track as a training regimen, but Bayliss has taken it to a new level since his retirement from full-time competition in 2008. For the last three years, he's successfully promoted the Troy Bayliss Classic flat track exhibition in Australia, an event that has attracted top AMA Pro Flat Track riders such as current Grand National Champion Jared Mees, Sammy Halbert and Henry Wiles.
Following the Springfield Mile, Bayliss is scheduled to race the Sacramento Mile on May 30. July 4 and 11, he'll run the Du Quoin Mile and Indy Mile, respectively, before finishing with the second running of the Springfield Mile Sept. 6.
"Dirt and flat track racing are where I cut my teeth as a junior. Everything I have learned on the dirt helped me through my career in road racing and to find myself back where it all started makes me feel young again," said Bayliss. "To race the Grand Nationals will be a challenge, but to compete with Lloyd Brothers Motorsports on the Ducati had to be done. Flat track is on the up here in Australia. We have run the Troy Bayliss Classic for the past three years and mixing it up with Henry Wiles, Jared Mees and Sammy Halbert has been great. I really look forward to my time in the US of A."
Bayliss, 46, recorded 94 podium finishes in 152 World Superbike starts, including 52 victories. He recorded his only MotoGP victory as a wildcard entrant in 2006, filling in for the injured Factory Ducati rider, Sete Gibernau, in Valencia, Spain. His decorated resume also includes a British Superbike Championship, which he won in 1999.
Next up, the stars of AMA Pro Flat Track will visit Springfield, Ill., for the first Springfield Mile on May 24, 2015. Fans can get their tickets by calling (217) 753-8866. The entire event can also be viewed live and in high definition at www.FansChoice.tv.
